Project Summary

The lens and the Pen / Alfaz and Tasweeron ka tord jord featuring writers and photographers and works across text and photographs. The exhibition is a result of 17-day residency at Tasweerghar. The idea of the project stems from the Phrase “A picture speaks a thousand words”. The Phrase A picture is a worth a thousand words is usually refereeing to a physical illustration, but it is occasionally used as an exhortation to use description in ones writing rather than simply reciting facts” – Henrik Ibsen. The lens and the Pen , Alfaz or tasweeron ka tord jord is an exchange between creative minds expressing themselves through writing and visuals. Photographers and writers were encouraged to apply to engage in a dialogue to raise questions regarding the position of one medium along the other. Channeling both creative expressions through one platform , this projects aim was to produce works that are an outcome of the collective experiences and brainstorming. A project that opens up dialogue of languages whether spoken or visual enables an array of themes while creating art. 6 photographers were paired with 6 writers to create works in a residency with guest lectures and were put on display for the public to engage.
